Some people have mentioned about some similarities of certain aspects between SMBZ ep 8 and Shadefalcon's Dawning of Darkness series after his latest news post. Mostly referring to Fire Sonic and Basilisx's ability to turn people to stone.
These are all merely coincidences since truthfully, I haven't checked out his series in a long time.

1: Both Shadow and Basilisx have the ability to turn people to stone in our series. In SMBZ, Basilisx is based on the mythical serpent who had the power to kill people with a single glance. Since I didn't want the heroes to die, I figured turning them to stone would be better. In DoD, Shadow has an ability to turn people to stone that may be used after a mass of energy has been stored, so Shadow must attain the emeralds to use it at will, which unlike Basilisx, Shadow cannot use it at will.

2: Fire Sonic. One of the bigger items of debate. Fire Sonic has been a concept that I have wanted to use for ages after several fans requested a Sonic character to use an item from the Mushroom Kingdom. The Fire flower seemed like the most logical choice, which was also used in episode 5 of DoD. The only differences are the designs we used, with mine being more of a recolor while Shade's design gave Sonic a Mario cap.

In either case, it would seem we both had a case of great minds thinking alike.

Just enjoy SMBZ and Shadefalcon's DoD series without making comparisons. =P
